Now it gets ugly

First it was seniors. Then Generation X. Now it's children -- small children.

An infant in Manitoba has died from listeriosis. It's too early to say whether the death is linked to the problems at Maple Leaf, but it does make you wonder how much worse it is going to get before it gets better.

Almost amazingly, Harper continues to stand by his man Gerry Ritz, saying that while the remarks were "completely inappropriate" the apology was enough.

17 people dying is enough? Hundreds getting sick is enough?

Enough of the crap. Ritz has got to go even if Harper isn't.

I read today that Listeriosis has a latency period of up to 70 days.

This is an horrific tragedy. I can't understand why nobody is concentrating less on Ritz's insulting disgusting comment, and more on the fact that Harper is secretly cutting funding for our food safety and killing government inspections for our food.

Ignatieff is the first I heard bring this up on Duffy tonight. More of the opposing parties should do the same. And the public should be screaming long and loud about this.

Thanks for your comment, Carrie.

70 days? Wow. With that length of incubation period we may see quite a few more deaths or severe illnesses just around the time of the actual vote, October 14. Wonder how that will affect people's votes?

On inspections, there should be no debate. We need them -- in fact we need more of them.
