Boy, you'd think that with all of Barack Obama's talk about restoring ethics to politics his successor in the Illinois Senate seat he's vacated would have at least some character. Think again. Rod Blagojevich, the state's Democratic governor, is under arrest for allegedly trying to sell the seat to the highest bidder, thinking that in turn that crony would ensure that Mad Blag might be able to get a top post in the Obama government -- such as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
This is an outrage. Especially for those states where there doesn't have to be a by-election until the next Congressional cycle which can be as long as two years.
Obviously every state should have equal representation in the Upper House. But why can't they do it like they do in some states where if there's a vacancy the Governor appoints an interim seat-warmer who has no intention of sitting there permanently, for a maximum of ninety days (in some states it can still be months) -- until a by-election can be held? That way, there's little to no chance for a stunt like the one Rod is accused of.
Obama left a huge gap to fill. He certainly deserves better representation from his own governor than that.

This is just the beginning; Blagojevich, Rezko, Obama, and the majority of the rest of the Chicago mob are in this corrupt mess up to their eyeballs; now watch St. Obama can all of the federal prosecutors in an attempt to cut this investigation off before it names him as one of the major players in this "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" scheme.
Some sources are reporting that it was Obama's cheif-of-staff, Rahm Emmanual, that tipped off the FBI. I can believe it after the woman who was said to be his preference (Valarie Jarrett) abruptly removed herself from consideration a week or so ago.
Good on Obama and Co.
Anon #1: This story was just on CNN and Pat Fitzgerald said Obama was not involved in any way. I can only hope that's true.
Anon #2: That was the gist of the CNN story as well. I can't believe how stupid a guy can be especially yesterday when he dared prosecutors to wiretap him.
FWIW this was the top story on RDI this hour -- even over the weather, the election yesterday or Rae pulling out of the Lib race.
There is no corruption here on Obama's part at all. It was Obama's people who got Fitzgerald to arrest this governor and his aide before he could appoint himself to the Senate seat or sell it to anyone else.
