Ivor Wynne, but ...

So at long last, it's back to square one, literally, as the year long game of chicken seems to have come to an end and the Hamilton Tiger Cats will stay at a rebuilt Ivor Wynne which will also serve for soccer for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games.   My only concern:   The press box.   For God's sake, move it to the north stands so when there's a kickoff people across the land see our parks, not the wasteland that's left of what used to be our industry.

Sadly, this one has Dalton McGuinty's hand all over it.   It's not enough to change my vote against him this fall.

Vote for this post at Progressive Bloggers.

I find it kind of ironic that Michael Baldassaro suggested this as part of his campaign while running for Mayor last fall. He didn't win obviously but now city council is thinking this is a good idea. Baldassaro must be laughing his ass off.

It's too bad that we have the insipid FPTP system of voting for local elections. With so many running for mayor there's more than enough argument for some form of single transferable vote, also called alternate vote or two vote preference -- where you rank the candidates 1,2,3 etc. and there's an instant runoff until someone gets 50% plus one.

If there had been such a system, Baldasaro would have been my second choice. Weird he may be, but he was WAY ahead of the curve on decriminalization of pot and he was green long before anyone thought about the one garbage bag per week rule.
