Even more death threats against Liberals in TO

Let's be quite clear: There is absolutely no proof that the Conservatives, or any other party, are behind the latest incidents against Liberal supporters in Toronto. But when people who have lawn signs in front of their homes start receiving threatening phone calls saying "Take down your lawn sign or else" then one has crossed the line from mere debate and into the realm of facism and anarchy.

There are simply no other words to describe this, and the people responsible should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law; for in this case people are even scared to put the signs in their garage, they've asked the campaign to take the signs back. Threatening people with a shakedown, literal or otherwise, is how it's still done in many places in the United States (illegally, of course, but it still happens). It may be par for the course there, unfortunately, but it is simply unacceptable for Canadians and we must say we will not tolerate it. It is a form of terrorism -- no more or less.

It behooves Steve Harper to condemn these obscene phone calls and other attempts at sabotage in the strongest possible terms. We eagerly await him doing such.

In this day and age it's not too difficult to trace a phone call, if the person receiving the call does not know how the RCMP and phone company should be able to do it within hours not days IF they are concerned.

I think we can "eagerly await" for Harper to condemn these acts of terrorism when he has built his ark, the floods have come & he has floated far away & cannot be found. A lone dove will return to dry land with a written note of apology from "bobblehead" for not denouncing these acts & threats.

You forget - he has no heart & anything that gets him re-elected is allowed. It's not funny, it's downright tragic!

Tootrusting: That may be true, but coming so close to the election charges probably won't be laid until after it's over by which time it will be too late. A friend of mine who was threatened on something completely unrelated had to wait 10 days for the trace to be nailed down. That's how backed up they are.

Penlan: I totally agree that it won't happen; and I certainly haven't forgotten he has no feelings, which is why I said what I did in perhaps a sarcastic fashion.

I knew you were being sarcastic. I wasn't implying you weren't. Sorry if it came across that way. :)

I know that you knew I was being sarcastic, Penlan. I'm just shocked that things have come to this -- and the silence from Harper speaks for itself. If he did actually condemn the acts, it would be unsolicited and not from any press questions -- and even that is hoping for too much.

I agree Robert. By not saying anything it's basically condoning the actions. In this case "silence is deadly", not "golden".
