Anti-plagarism site sued for copyright infringment -- really

A story tonight on CBC Radio 1's As It Happens led me to this recent article at WaPo, about some straight-A students who are suing the anti-plagarism site Turnitin. Why? Through their legal counsel, the kids claim that because the website archives any and all papers that are checked against others and websites for lifted phrases and keep those papers on file perhaps permanently without the students' permission, their copyright is being violated. They're asking for $900,000 in damages.

You can't help but see the irony in that one.
