China declares war on freedom -- through our pets

A long time ago, some one said one can judge a person by the way he or she treats animals; that is, if they're prone to abusing or neglecting a cat or dog or any other fauna, imagine how they would treat their kids, their parents or anyone else.

The escalating pet food crisis is a point in fact. Many of the people who've lost pets bought the food in good faith so they can't be blamed; and while the manufacturer should have done much more due dilligence when they went to a new supplier one must presume they didn't set out to kill their customer's charges on purpose. However, we do know that one of the suppliers regularly laces their ingredient with rat poison -- and that supplier is in Mainland China.

We know about that country's appalling human rights record and no amount of public relations will change that image for those of us in the West and the democratic parts of the Asia-Pacific -- Tiananmen Square will always be a day of infamy and those responsible have sealed their place in Hell for all eternity. One can only presume that, having gotten caught in the act by their own people either the government of China or a company in it decided to declare war on North Americans, via the back door.

Since they won't silence us, they figure they may as well silence our pets. We shouldn't stand for it. If there's any chance that they've done this on purpose, we should cut off all trade (save and except humanitarian work) with the PRC. No country that does that is worth trading with, and any country in our part of the world -- whether led by a conservative, progressive, or democratic socialist regime -- should realize that.
