So Wiarton Willie didn't see his shadow this morning. Which allegedly means an early spring in Southern Ontario. Of course he wouldn't, not with yesterday's nasty snowstorm.
Like I believe that legend -- statistically the woodchuck's spotting or non-spotting of the shadow on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, a.k.a. Candlemas, has prognosticated the timing of warmer weather only 37% of the time.
But it's still a fun tradition, and if it brings thousands of tourists to the usually deserted Bruce Penninsula, it can't hurt. So happy Groundhog Day, or Candlemas -- or Saturday, as the case may be.
